Overview
ACM SIGDA Travel Grants are awarded based on need and hardship. In a typical year,
5-10 travel grants are awarded, depending on the number of applicants and the
available program funding. Travel grants typically cover early conference registration
only.
- For faculty applicants, letters of financial need from their Chair and Dean
are required.
- For student applicants, letters of financial need from their Advisor, Chair,
and Dean are required.
- This can be one letter signed by all three.
- An application is not considered complete until both letters and
electronic on-line form are received.
- For full consideration, Travel Grant electronic applications must
be submitted 60 days before the event.
- Travel Grant applications submitted less than 60 days before the
event may not receive full review.
- Incomplete applications may not receive any acknowledgment.
- Travel Grant awards are announced 45 to 30 days before the event.
- Travel Grant funds are limited; not all who apply will receive support.
- Limits exist on the number and amount that any one individual, institution,
academic advisor, or conference may receive.
- Individuals, institutions, and academic advisors who have not received
a travel grant are given priority.
- ACM SIGDA Travel Grants are an ACM SIGDA membership benefit. Join
here online.
Basic
SIGDA Travel Grant Policy
- SIGDA Travel Grants are provided to support attendance at conferences/symposia/workshops
either sponsored by SIGDA or held in cooperation with SIGDA. A list of conferences sponsored by SIGDA can be found here .
- In both cases, priority for consideration are given to applicants
who are:
- authors, junior faculty, or graduate or undergraduate students
who have
- secured matching funds from their institutions, and
- have not previously received a SIGDA Travel Grant.
- Typically, an ACM SIGDA Travel Grant covers (early) registration
fee. Depending on the need and available funds, lodging and airfare
may also be covered.
- Applications must be submitted at least 60 days month before the
conference. Awards are announced 45 to 30 days before the conference
to reduce airline and registration costs.
