ACM/SIGDA Emerging Technologies Technical Committee

ACM/SIGDA Emerging Technologies Technical Committee is a new initiative with the goal of establishing new research directions and providing support, suggestions, and ideas for technical activities related to Emerging Technologies. In addition, the Committee plans to sponsor main events in this area (e.g., NANOARCH, NanoNets, Non-Silicon Computing and related activities at DAC/ICCAD).

Committee Members:
  1. Alex Orailoglu (University of California-San Diego) - Chair
  2. Iris Bahar (Brown University) - Co-chair
  3. Chris Dwyer (Duke University)
  4. Dan Hammerstorm (Portland State University)
  5. Margarida Jacome (University of Texas)
  6. Ramesh Karri (Polytechnic University)
  7. Andras Moritz (University of Massachusetts)
  8. Michael Niemier (Norte Dame University)
  9. Mircea Stan (University of Virginia)
Activities:
  1. EM-TC will be a voice speaking for the interests of the Emerging Technologies and Nanoscale Computing community. These interests include funding, visibility and coverage of papers related to emerging technologies in major CAD conferences.
  2. EM-TC provides a link between SIGDA and the EM community. In particular, EM-TC will promote issues related to emerging technologies and nanoscale computing in other communities and their key conferences, such as ISCA and MICRO for the computer architecture community, ITC for the testing community, etc.
  3. EM-TC facilitates to introduce new topics to the EM community, by organizing 1 or 2-day workshops that brings experts from different communities on emerging topics.
Upcoming events:

EM-TC will help publish a joint special issue in TODAES and JETC covering selected papers published in the "NanoDays" track of ICCAD 2006. The special issues are due out in April 2008.

EM-TC will be sponsoring the NANOARCH symposium this year, scheduled to take place October 21-22 in San Jose, CA. NANOARCH 2007 will have official Symposium Proceedings published jointly by the IEEE and ACM. Please see www.nanoarch.org for more information on the symposium.
