Bio: Renato is a PhD student at UFRGS working with place and route algorithms for wire length, routability and timing optimization of 3D circuits. He achieved his master degree in computer science at UFRGS in 2002. His research interests are timing driven physical design, logic synthesis for physical improvement and 3D integration.

Bio: George F. Viamontes is a PhD candidate in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at the University of Michigan. He is working to develop algorithms that exploit implicit problem structure to simulate quantum-mechanical phenomena efficiently and has done some of this research at Los Alamos National Laboratory. He has an MS in computer science and engineering from the University of Michigan. He is a member of the IEEE and ACM.

Bio: Jin is currently a 1st year PhD student at the University of Michigan under the direction of Professor Igor Markov. She received both her BS in Electrical Engineering and BS in Computer Engineering with Summa Cum Laude from Northwestern University in June 2006. Her research interests focus in the areas of VLSI systems design, SAT and LP, and placement and routing.

Bio: Jarrod received a B.S. degree in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University in May 2001 and a M.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in August 2005. He is currently a Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Michigan. His areas of research interest include VLSI physical design as well as SAT and QBF solving.

Bio: Donald Chai hails from Brooklyn in New York City, meaning he properly pronounces phrases such as "orange", "Super Mario Brothers", and "forget about it". After being imbued with super EE and CS powers at Cornell University, he decided to take up surfing and somehow ended up in Berkeley, on the wrong end of California. There, he probes the deep mysteries of design automation under the watchful (and infinitely patient) eye of Andreas Kuehlmann. He received his MS degree and will get his PhD Real Soon Now.

Bio: Satrajit Chatterjee is a Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science at U. C. Berkeley working with Professor Brayton. Currently he is preoccupied with algorithms for logic synthesis. He graduated with the B. Tech and M. Tech degrees from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in 2001.

Bio: Mosin Mondal is currently a PhD student in the Rice Automated Nanoscale Design Group at the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Rice University. He received his B.E. in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from Jadavpur University, India in 2001. From 2001 to May 2004 he was working with Cadence Design Systems (I) Pvt. Ltd. as a Member of Technical Staff in the Digital IC Group where he was in the R&D of CeltIC(TM), a noise analysis tool for cell based digital design. Mosin's research interests include modeling and extraction of interconnect and timing, noise and power analysis.

His main research interest includes different topics in low-power design, especially, low-power synthesis and low-power memory design.

Bio: Taraneh received her B.S. from Dept. of Computer Engineering at Sharif University of Technology. She started her graduate studies at University of California, Los Angeles, where she obtained her M.S degree in Computer Science Department in 2004, working on Computer Aided Design of digital circuits. Currently, she is working in the Embedded and Reconfigurable (ER) Lab under supervision of Prof. Majid Sarrafzadeh at the University of California, Los Angeles for her Ph.D. degree. Her research interest includes different topics in physical design, especially, placement and routing for ASIC and FPGA.

Bio: Vasanth Krishna Namasivayam graduated with his MSEE from the University of Southern California in May 2006. He is currently pursuing his PhD in EE and MS in C Eng. His research interests include Digital design, verification, CAD, and parallel programming and algorithms. He has published one paper in IEEE ICPADS 2006, which was nominated for best paper and one paper in ACM SBAC - PAD 2006. His work was also accepted as a poster at MIT Lincoln Lab HPEC 2006. He was also selected as a global intern at Infosys Technologies, India.

Bio: Zhiyang Ong is currently pursuing his MS EE in the University of Southern California. His current field of interest is electronic design automation. Guided by this philosophy to be her driving force in all endeavours, academic or not; Ashma has been ever willing to learn and explore new avenues. As an Electrical Engineering Masters' student at Syracuse University, she has constantly worked towards honing her skills in Computer Aided Design and Verification of digital systems and submicron chips. She is the current President of GROVE (GRoup of VLSI Enthusiasts) at the university, and is actively involved in organizing VLSI related activities. Her primary research interests include high level synthesis and development of CAD tools.
