It is the sponsoring technical committee from CASS that sponsors both ICCAD and DAC. CANDE is dedicated to bringing design automation professionals together to assist in building relationships, to further their education, and to sponsor initiatives that improve the CAD/EDA industry. CANDE sponsors a yearly workshop to address emerging technologies issues specific to the EDA community. The CANDE Workshop is organized to promote open discussion among the participants - a mix from academia and industry. No proceedings are published and no recording of the sessions is allowed. Time is provided for a full discussion (often quite lively) of the topics of interest. The attendance at the workshops is limited to 50-60 so that everyone can participate in the discussion. Logistics: The workshop will be at the Coast Hotel, Santa Cruz, CA. The cost will be $550 and includes lodging, meals, and registration. Please contact Ms. Colleen Matteis colleenmatteis@juno.com for specific travel, location and hotel information. Guests of attendees can be accommodated for a nominal ($200) additional charge. Organization: September 8, 2005: 6pm onwards: reception and open discussion September 9, 2005: 8:30-am-12pm: CANDE session 1 12pm-1pm: lunch 1pm-3:30pm: CANDE session/panel 2 3:30pm-4pm: break 4pm-6:30pm: open discussion 6:30pm-8pm: dinner 8pm onwards: CANDE 5-year predictions September 10, 2005: 8:30-am-12pm: CANDE session 3 Each CANDE session usually involves short presentations led by about 3 speakers. Controversial topics are especially encouraged. Particularly appropriate themes for CANDE include: nascent ideas that can benefit from the considerable experience and expertise of the CANDE membership; negative technical results not suited for publication in more formal venues; long-range ideas and other topics that may be of broad interest to the CANDE and EDA communities, but do not fit well at DAC, ICCAD and other EDA conferences/ workshops. Please visit the CANDE website: (http://www.ics.uci.edu/~rgupta/cande/) for more information. ========================================================================
